When we talk about diphthongs, we are referring to sounds that are formed by two vowels together and pronounced in the same syllable, as in 'pai' and 'ceu'. In addition, diphthongs can be classified as rising, when the vowel 'i' or 'u' comes before the other vowel, as in 'pau', or falling, when the vowel 'i' or 'u' comes after the other vowel, as in 'pão'. Think of words you know and remember that diphthongs are those two vowels that are pronounced together in the same syllable. Now, write a short story or text using at least two words with rising diphthongs and two words with falling diphthongs. Then, explain why you classified each word as rising or falling.
