Inspired by the American and French revolutions, these colonies thought it was a great idea (and it truly was!) to follow the example and fight for their independence. And so, one by one, the countries of Latin America decided to say 'enough' and began to carve their own paths.

 Cries of Freedom Everywhere!  Of course, it wasn't as simple as just shouting 'freedom!' and being done with it. There was a lot of fighting, battles, and brave heroes involved. Figures like Simón Bolívar and José de San Martín became true icons, leading independence movements in various regions. Each nation, with its particularities, faced distinct challenges to free itself. And believe me, at the time it was a real 'plot twist' after another, worthy of the best TV series.

Without that allowance from colonizers, they had to find innovative ways to support their growing economies.

 Natural Resources and New Opportunities  Many nations began to explore their natural resources more intensively, such as coffee, sugar, silver, and gold. It was a true showcase of products, where each country displayed what it had to offer the world market. At the same time, they tried to diversify their economies by developing industries and improving infrastructures such as roads and ports, in an attempt not to depend too much on monocultures and exports.

 Learning from Successes and Challenges  These economic transformations didn’t happen without challenges. Economic crises, foreign debts, and dependence on international markets brought complicated times. But like in every good game, each obstacle overcome brought an important lesson. And these lessons still teach us a lot about economy, trade, and development.

 Education for All?  Education became seen as a fundamental tool for progress. Many countries invested in the creation of schools and universities because, let’s face it, a country without education is like a cellphone without Wi-Fi – it loses half its charm. However, there were great challenges to face, such as the inclusion of indigenous and Afro-descendant populations who had been marginalized during colonial times.
