This will help guide their efforts and focus during practical activities, promoting more effective and directed learning.

Main Objectives

1. Understand the structure and function of the circulatory system, including the heart, veins, and arteries.

2. Identify and describe the main components of the circulatory system and their respective functions.

Side Objectives

  1. Recognize the importance of the circulatory system for the maintenance of life and health of the organism.

Introduction

Duration: 10 to 15 minutes

The purpose of this stage of the lesson plan is to ensure that students are aware of the learning objectives of the lesson, providing them with a clear understanding of what they should achieve. This will help guide their efforts and focus during practical activities, promoting more effective and directed learning.

Warming Up

To start the lesson, explain to the students that the circulatory system is the transportation network of the human body, responsible for delivering oxygen and nutrients to all cells. Ask students to use their cell phones to research an interesting fact about the circulatory system. Then, each student should share the fact they found with the class. 

Initial Reflections

1. What is the circulatory system?

2. What are the main components of the circulatory system?

3. What is the function of the heart in the circulatory system?

4. How do veins and arteries differ in their functions?

5. Why is the circulatory system important for our body?

Development

Duration: 70 to 80 minutes

The purpose of this stage of the lesson plan is to allow students to apply prior knowledge of the circulatory system practically and interactively. The proposed activities will promote group collaboration and the use of digital technologies, making learning more significant and engaging.

Activity Suggestions

It is recommended that only one of the suggested activities be carried out

Activity 1 - 變 The Heart Influencers’ Mission

> Duration: 60 to 70 minutes

- Objective: Promote deep understanding of the circulatory system through an activity that simulates the reality of digital influencers, using social media as an educational tool.

- Description: Students will create a series of posts for a fictional social media network as if they were digital influencers whose mission is to promote cardiovascular health. These posts should address how the circulatory system works, the importance of the heart, veins, and arteries, and tips for maintaining a healthy circulatory system.

- Instructions:

  • Divide students into groups of up to 5 people.

  • Each group must choose a 'central theme' related to the circulatory system (e.g., heart function, importance of veins, cardiovascular health).

  • Students will use their phones to research information and create multimedia content (images, short videos, infographics) to be used in the posts.

  • Each group must create at least 3 posts, each in a different format (image, video, infographic) with an explanatory caption.

  • The groups will present their posts to the class, explaining their choices and the content addressed.

Activity 2 -  Gamification: The Cardiac Circuit Game

> Duration: 60 to 70 minutes

- Objective: Facilitate understanding of the circulatory system through the creation of an interactive game, promoting collaboration and the use of digital skills.

- Description: Students will create a simple digital game using free online tools (like Scratch) that simulates blood flow through the heart, veins, and arteries. The game must have different levels that represent the stages of the circulatory system, including challenges and questions on the subject.

- Instructions:

  • Divide students into groups of up to 5 people.

  • Each group must plan the flow of the game, defining the levels and challenges for each part of the circulatory system.

  • Students will use computers with internet access to develop the game on the chosen platform (e.g., Scratch).

  • Each group must implement at least 3 levels in the game, each corresponding to a part of the circulatory system (e.g., pulmonary circulation, systemic circulation, heart function).

  • The games will be presented to the class, and students will play each other’s games.

Activity 3 - 里 Life Challenge: The Augmented Reality Challenge

> Duration: 60 to 70 minutes

- Objective: Promote deep immersion into the study of the circulatory system through the creation and exploration of augmented reality models.

- Description: Students will create an augmented reality (AR) content that simulates blood circulation. Using AR apps, they will create a three-dimensional model that other students can explore with their phones for a better understanding of how the circulatory system works.

- Instructions:

  • Divide students into groups of up to 5 people.

  • Each group must choose a free and accessible AR app (e.g., AR-loops) to develop their model.

  • Students will conduct research on the circulatory system to design a detailed flow that will be simulated in the chosen app.

  • Each team must create AR content that represents an aspect of the circulatory system (e.g., functioning of heart valves, oxygenation of blood).

  • The groups will present their creations to the class, allowing everyone to explore the models with their own devices.

Feedback

Duration: 15 to 20 minutes

Purpose: The purpose of this stage is to consolidate and reflect on the knowledge acquired during the practical activities, promoting the exchange of ideas and constructive self-criticism. This discussion and the 360° feedback stage allow students to review the concepts learned, identify areas for improvement, and recognize the value of collaboration, strengthening both individual and collective learning.

Group Discussion

Group Discussion: Promote a group discussion where each group shares what they learned while performing their activities. Use the following script for the introduction:

  1. Start by thanking everyone's effort and highlighting the diversity of approaches used in the activities.
  2. Invite each group to present a summary of their activity, highlighting the most important points about the circulatory system that were addressed.
  3. Encourage students to ask each other questions about their presentations, fostering a collaborative discussion environment.

Explain that the goal of this discussion is to consolidate knowledge through sharing and mutual questioning.

Reflections

1.What was the most surprising aspect you learned about the circulatory system during the activity? 2.How did the use of digital tools help you better understand how the circulatory system works? 3.Was there any concept you found harder to understand? How did your group work to overcome it?

360° Feedback

360° Feedback: Start a feedback stage where each student should receive feedback from their group peers. Guide the students to use the constructive feedback model:

  1. Begin by highlighting something positive about each student's contribution.
  2. Offer a respectful and specific suggestion for improvement.
  3. Conclude by reinforcing appreciation for each person's effort and collaboration.

Explain the importance of constructive feedback for personal development and collaborative skills.

Conclusion

Duration: 10 to 15 minutes

Purpose: The purpose of this stage is to close the lesson in an engaging way, ensuring that students leave with a clear and consolidated understanding of the main points addressed. This moment contributes to tying together information meaningfully, connecting academic content to students' daily lives, and reinforcing the importance of what was learned for their lives.

Summary

Fun Summary: The circulatory system is like a large road network, where the heart is the central engine . The veins are the return paths , bringing used blood back to the heart, while the arteries are the super highways ️ that carry fresh and oxygenated blood to nourish all body cells.  We learned about the life cycle of this system and how keeping it healthy is vital for our survival! 

World Connection

In the Current World: In a world where digital health and well-being have become crucial topics, understanding the circulatory system is essential. With the growing popularity of health monitoring devices like smartwatches and fitness apps, knowing how the heart and blood vessels work allows students to make more conscious use of these technologies for self-care. ❤️

Practical Application

‍♂️ Daily Applications: Understanding the circulatory system helps promote healthy habits like regular exercise, balanced diet, and stress management. This not only ensures a healthy heart but also a more energetic and conscious life, directly impacting quality of life and overall wellbeing. 
