Introduction

Duration: 15 to 20 minutes

Emotional Warmup Activity

Inner Journey of Tranquility

Our selected emotional warm-up activity is Guided Meditation. This practice includes a series of verbal prompts that assist students in focusing their attention, relaxing, and mentally preparing for the lesson. Guided meditation is a fantastic technique for alleviating stress, boosting concentration, and fostering a calm and clear mindset.

1. Ask students to find a comfortable position in their chairs, feet flat on the floor, and hands resting in their laps.

2. Instruct them to gently close their eyes and take a deep breath in through the nose, then exhale through the mouth.

3. Encourage students to focus on their breath, recognizing the air entering and exiting their lungs for a few moments.

4. Begin guiding the meditation in a soft, soothing voice, saying: 'Imagine you're in a serene and safe place, maybe a peaceful beach or a blossoming meadow. Feel the warmth of the sun on your skin and listen to the gentle sounds of nature around you.'

5. Continue with soothing phrases like: 'With each breath, allow yourself to relax, feeling lighter and calmer.'

6. After a few minutes, gently bring students back to the present by saying: 'Begin to move your fingers and toes slowly, and when you're ready, gently open your eyes.'

7. Conclude by asking students to take one more deep breath with their eyes still closed, and as they exhale, they can open their eyes slowly, bringing a sense of calm and clarity into the lesson.

Theory Guide

Duration: 15 to 20 minutes

1. Regular Verbs in the Present Indicative: Explain that regular verbs follow a set conjugation pattern. In the present indicative, the verb endings change based on the grammatical person (I, you, he/she, we, you all, they).

2. Example: The verb 'hablar' (to speak) conjugates as follows: yo hablo, tú hablas, él/ella habla, nosotros hablamos, vosotros habláis, ellos/ellas hablan.

3. Irregular Verbs in the Present Indicative: Explain that irregular verbs don't follow a consistent pattern and must be memorized. They may exhibit root changes or variations in endings.

4. Example: The verb 'tener' (to have) conjugates as follows: yo tengo, tú tienes, él/ella tiene, nosotros tenemos, vosotros tenéis, ellos/ellas tienen.

5. Verbs with Root Change: Some verbs have root changes in specific conjugations, impacting pronunciation and spelling.

6. Example: The verb 'dormir' (to sleep) conjugates as follows: yo duermo, tú duermes, él/ella duerme, nosotros dormimos, vosotros dormís, ellos/ellas duermen.

7. Verbs with Unique Irregularities: Certain verbs display irregularities that don’t fit any standard patterns and need to be learned individually.

8. Example: The verb 'ir' (to go) conjugates as follows: yo voy, tú vas, él/ella va, nosotros vamos, vosotros vais, ellos/ellas van.

Activity with Socioemotional Feedback

Duration: 30 to 35 minutes

Verb Conjugation Game

In this activity, students will engage in a lively game to practice conjugating both regular and irregular verbs in the present indicative tense. This interactive exercise not only reinforces their learning but also fosters collaboration and the development of socio-emotional skills.

1. Divide the class into small groups of 3 to 4 students.

2. Hand out cards featuring a mix of regular and irregular verbs in Spanish to each group.

3. Each group will draw a card and conjugate the verb in the present indicative for all grammatical persons.

4. After conjugating, the group will come up with a sentence for each verb form.

5. Invite a representative from each group to share their conjugations and sentences with the class.

6. As the groups engage, circulate around the room providing support and feedback as needed.

Discussion and Group Feedback

Upon completion of the activity, gather the students in a circle for a group discussion. Utilize the RULER method to guide the conversation: 📌 Recognize: Ask students how they felt during the activity. Were they confident, anxious, or confused? 📌 Understand: Help them identify what caused those feelings—perhaps the irregular verbs were tricky, or collaborating with peers was enjoyable. 📌 Name: Encourage students to articulate their emotions using precise emotional vocabulary. 📌 Express: Ask them how they communicated their emotions during the activity. Did they seek help when needed? Did they uplift their teammates? 📌 Regulate: Discuss strategies for managing challenging emotions. How can they handle frustration when facing a difficult verb? What techniques can they utilize to keep calm and focused?

Conclusion

Duration: 15 to 20 minutes

Reflection and Emotional Regulation

Prompt students to write a brief paragraph or participate in a group discussion about the challenges they encountered during the lesson and how they handled their emotions. Ask how they felt about conjugating regular and irregular verbs and working in groups. Encourage them to think back on the strategies they employed to navigate frustrations or difficulties, as well as the moments they felt successful and confident.

Objective: The goal of this subsection is to encourage self-assessment and emotional regulation among students, helping them identify effective strategies for managing challenging situations. By reflecting on their emotions and actions, students can cultivate greater self-awareness and self-control, crucial for ongoing learning and emotional management.

Glimpse into the Future

Discuss the significance of setting personal and academic goals related to the lesson content. Ask them to contemplate a specific goal to enhance their understanding and use of present indicative verbs in Spanish. They can jot these goals down or share them with the class. Encourage them to brainstorm concrete steps they can take to reach these goals, such as studying a set of verbs weekly or writing sentences every day.

Penetapan Objective:

1. Study and memorize the conjugation of 10 irregular verbs in the present indicative.

2. Practice writing sentences using regular and irregular verbs in the present indicative on a daily basis.

3. Engage actively in group activities to strengthen collaboration and social skills.

4. Utilize additional resources like language learning apps to reinforce verb knowledge.

5. Reflect weekly on their progress and adjust goals as necessary. Objective: The aim of this subsection is to bolster students' independence and practical application of their learning, promoting continuous growth in both academic and personal areas. By establishing clear and specific goals, students can focus their efforts more effectively and keep track of their progress. This approach also fosters self-confidence and motivation to keep learning and refining their skills.
