Question bank: Different Types of Work

Think about the adults you know: your parents, grandparents, teachers, doctors, shopkeepers. Each of them has a different job. Now, I want you to describe what each of them does at work and think of a way to help them in their tasks, like tidying up the room to help your parents or bringing pencils to class and listening to what the teacher is teaching to help her.

In our community, there are many people who do different jobs. Some take care of plants and animals, others prepare food, and we also have people who help everyone learn new things, like your teacher. Thinking about this, I want you to describe what you think your teacher and your parents do in their work, and what tools or clothes they use to help with their tasks. Remember to think about what you have seen at school or at home about their work.

Do you know that there are many types of work and that each one is important to help our community function well? For example, the work of a teacher is to teach and that of parents can be taking care of the house or working in places like hospitals, stores, and offices. Think about what people around you do and tell me: What are the types of work that you see in people from your community? Describe what these people do and why you think this work is important.

Think about all the things people do around us: the baker bakes bread, the mail carrier delivers letters, the doctor takes care of people, and the teacher teaches at school. Now, we want to know, who are the people who work in your community and what do they do? Describe in your own words the work activities of at least three people you know and why these activities are important for our group life. Remember to include examples, such as the work of the teacher and your parents, and tell what they do on a daily basis.
