Time and Orality

(Originais Teachy 2024) - Question Medium of History

When we study History, we learn that different cultures have unique ways of telling time and passing stories from generation to generation. For example, indigenous and African peoples have their own oral traditions, such as stories told around the campfire. It can be said that storytelling is a way to travel through time without a clock. With that in mind, how do you think indigenous and African peoples, who did not use clocks or calendars like ours, marked or perceived the passage of time in their societies in ancient times? Give an example of how they could do this and explain why you think this was important to them.
