Solutions: Solubility

Medium

(Originais Teachy 2023) - Question Medium of Chemistry

A student received a sample of potassium nitrate (KNO3) and wants to prepare a saturated aqueous solution of this salt at 30°C. Consulting a solubility table, he finds out that the solubility of potassium nitrate at 30°C is 40 g of solute dissolved in 100 g of water. (a) What is the maximum amount of potassium nitrate that can be dissolved in 500 g of water at 30°C? (b) If the student adds 80g of potassium nitrate to the solution, what will be the approximate concentration of this solution in grams of solute per 100g of water? (c) How is the solubility of potassium nitrate affected by the change in temperature and what would be the expectation when cooling the solution?
