The Islamic expansion, which began in the 7th century, not only altered the political and religious geography of the Middle East, but also had a significant impact on Europe and Africa. Considering the context of the birth and expansion of Islam, historian Marshall Hodgson states: 'The Arab expansion was much more than a simple movement of territorial conquest; it marked the spread of a new faith, a new language, and a new civilization.' (Orientalism and Islamic History, 1974). Based on this perspective, analyze the role of Islamic expansion in promoting a new cultural and religious order and discuss how the transformations caused by this movement are still reflected today in the Mediterranean world and other regions it reached.
