Political thought and disputes among different social groups were fundamental to understanding this process. Considering the ideas of historians like Christopher Hill, who argues that the English Revolution was a 'social conflict between the popular classes and the antiquated monarchical institutions,' and the perspective of Michael J. Braddick, who sees it as 'a conflict that emerged from the power struggle between royalty and nobility,' discuss: 1) How did the context of political and religious crisis in 17th century England influence the formation of different interpretations about the nature of the English Revolution? 2) Evaluate the importance of political ideas and values in mobilizing and justifying the various groups involved in the conflict, and how these elements contributed to the construction of the new political order in England.
