A sundial is a device that measures time by the apparent position of the Sun in the sky. In the era before mechanical clocks, sundials were very common instruments. A student interested in mathematical archaeology decides to build a simplified model of a sundial for a science project. He starts with a vertical rod fixed to the center of a flat, horizontal base. The shadow of the rod, projected by the Sun on the ground, varies in length according to the position of the Sun in the sky, which is inversely proportional to the sine of the Sun's elevation angle above the horizon. On a certain day, when the Sun's elevation angle is 45 degrees, the shadow of the rod measures 1 meter. Later, on the same day, the length of the shadow changes, and the student measures a new Sun's elevation angle of 30 degrees. Considering that the sine of 45 degrees is 0.71 and the sine of 30 degrees is 0.5, calculate the new length of the shadow of the rod.
