Thermodynamics: Thermal Machines

Medium

(Originais Teachy 2023) - Question Medium of Physics

In a city, a thermoelectric power plant operates with a thermal machine that uses water in the form of steam to convert thermal energy into mechanical energy and, subsequently, into electrical energy. Suppose that the steam entering the turbine of the power plant is at 420°C and 25 MPa, while at the exit the pressure drops to 0.1 MPa and the thermal efficiency of the machine is 40%. Considering a quantity of 1000 kg/s of water vapor circulating in the cycle and using the saturated steam table for analysis, calculate the power generated by the power plant.
a.
520 MW
b.
580 MW
c.
410 MW
d.
350 MW
