Geometric Optics: Human Eye

Medium

(Originais Teachy 2023) - Question Medium of Physics

A healthy human eye is capable of adjusting its focus to objects located at different distances. Considering that the average distance between the eye lens and the retina is approximately 1.7 cm and that the refractive index of the aqueous humor is 1.336 and that of the vitreous body is 1.336, apply the concept of focal distance to calculate the focal distance of the human eye. Then, discuss how presbyopia, a visual defect related to the loss of the crystalline lens accommodation capacity, can be corrected using converging lenses. Explain the physical principle that allows the correction of this defect and how the focal distance of corrective lenses is determined for each patient.
