During an experiment in the laboratory, a group of students observes the phenomenon of wave refraction when a beam of light passes from one medium to another. The group used a flat-convex glass lens with a refractive index of 1.5, in contact with a medium with a refractive index of 1.0. During the experiment, the students noticed a pattern of fringes called Newton's rings. Taking this phenomenon into consideration: a) Explain how light refraction occurs and the associated concept, identifying the angle of incidence and the angle of refraction in the experiment. b) Use Snell's law to determine the angle of refraction of light in the glass when the light beam is incident at an angle of 30° relative to the normal in the less refractive medium. c) Describe the pattern of Newton's rings and, considering the provided refractive index and the angle of incidence, calculate the radius of the first ring.
