Objective

Duration: (10 - 15 minutes)

This stage aims to introduce students to the topic of ethics in a globalized world, providing a foundation for critical analysis and in-depth discussion. By clarifying the lesson objectives, students will focus on the skills needed to understand the impacts and key aspects of the topic, thereby facilitating a more structured and targeted learning experience.

Objective Utama

1. Analyze ethical principles in the framework of globalization and their implications.

2. Identify and discuss the key ethical challenges faced in a globalized society.

Introduction

Duration: (15 - 20 minutes)

Emotional Warmup Activity

Guided Meditation for Concentration

The chosen emotional warm-up activity is Guided Meditation. This practice helps students connect with the present moment, fostering focus, mindfulness, and concentration. During the meditation, students will be guided to take deep breaths and visualize a serene setting, which assists in stress relief and mental preparation for the class.

1. Ask students to sit comfortably in their chairs, ensuring their feet are flat on the ground and their hands are resting in their laps.

2. Instruct students to close their eyes and begin taking deep breaths, inhaling through their noses and exhaling through their mouths.

3. Guide them to focus on their breathing, feeling the air entering and exiting their lungs for about 2 minutes.

4. Then, ask them to visualize a peaceful setting, like a beach or a forest, and imagine all the details of that place: the colors, sounds, and smells.

5. Continue guiding them through the visualization for another 5 minutes, encouraging them to feel calm and present in the moment.

6. Gradually bring the students' focus back to the classroom by asking them to gently move their fingers and toes before opening their eyes.

7. Conclude the activity by asking students to take one last deep breath as they prepare for the class.

Content Contextualization

Understanding ethics in a globalized world is essential for grasping the challenges and responsibilities that emerge in our interconnected society. For example, businesses operating across different nations often encounter ethical dilemmas while trying to balance various cultural norms and regulations. A well-known scenario involves technology companies making choices on how to deal with authoritarian governments demanding access to user data. This real-life example shows how ethical decisions have far-reaching implications and highlights the necessity of cultivating a profound and responsible understanding of these issues.

Moreover, when we consider ethics in a global context, it is vital to recognize the interconnectedness among countries and cultures. Challenges such as climate change, economic disparity, and human rights are borderless and require collective and ethical solutions. Studying these themes helps students develop social awareness and understand their role as global citizens prepared to make responsible decisions that affect the world as a whole.

Activity with Socioemotional Feedback

Duration: (30 - 35 minutes)

Debate on Global Ethical Dilemmas

Students will engage in a structured debate on various ethical dilemmas arising in the globalization context. Each group will be assigned a specific scenario to analyze and present their solutions, considering the ethical principles discussed.

1. Divide the class into groups of 4 to 5 students.

2. Assign an ethical dilemma scenario (e.g., child labor, data privacy, exploitation of natural resources) to each group.

3. Instruct students to discuss the scenario in their groups, identifying the primary ethical issues involved.

4. Ask the groups to prepare a 5-minute presentation on their analysis and proposed solutions.

5. Following the presentations, guide a debate session where groups can pose questions to one another and discuss their different approaches.

Discussion and Group Feedback

To apply the RULER method, start the discussion by asking students to recognize the emotions that emerged during the activity. Inquire how they felt while debating ethical dilemmas and listening to differing viewpoints. Then, help them understand the reasons behind those emotions by exploring how the dilemmas presented might influence their feelings and perspectives.

Name the identified emotions, encouraging students to use specific terms to articulate their feelings. Express these emotions constructively, creating a respectful and empathetic environment where everyone feels empowered to share their perspectives. Finally, discuss strategies to regulate these emotions, assisting students in developing skills to navigate complex emotional situations constructively.

Conclusion

Duration: (20 - 25 minutes)

Reflection and Emotional Regulation

Encourage students to write a brief paragraph or join a group discussion about the ethical challenges debated in class and how they managed their emotions during those discussions. Prompt them to reflect on specific instances when they recognised their emotions, understood their triggers and consequences, aptly named them, expressed them suitably, and effectively regulated them.

Objective: The goal of this activity is to promote self-assessment and emotional regulation, aiding students in identifying effective strategies for navigating challenging situations. By reflecting on their emotions, students will gain insight into themselves and enhance their capacity to manage emotions in future contexts, particularly regarding ethical dilemmas.

Glimpse into the Future

Emphasize to students the importance of setting personal and academic goals linked to the lesson's content. Ask each student to formulate one personal goal and one academic goal they aspire to achieve based on what they learnt about ethics in the globalized world. Encourage them to consider how they can incorporate the ethical principles discussed into their everyday lives and career aspirations.

Penetapan Objective:

1. Understand and apply ethical principles in everyday decisions.

2. Cultivate the ability to analyse ethical dilemmas thoughtfully and responsibly.

3. Promote social responsibility and uphold human rights.

4. Integrate ethical practices in their future careers.

5. Contribute to a more fair and equitable society. Objective: The aim of this section is to enhance students' autonomy and the practical application of their learning. By setting personal and academic goals, students are motivated to pursue further academic and personal growth, applying the knowledge gained about ethics in the globalized world to their lives and future careers.
